President Yoweri Museveni has appointed 14 new Judges of High Court and Court of Appeal.
The appointment has been confirmed by Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige who has written to members of the parliamentary appointment committee to vet the said judges next week.
“The Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament has received a communication from H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda recommending the appointment of the under listed officers as Judges of the Court of Appeal and High Court respectively,” say Kibirige her letter.
The letter further requests members of the Appointments committee, “for a meeting to interact and consider the approval of the named presidential nominees.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 14thFebruary and Thursday 15th February, 2018 starting at 9.30am in South Committee Room at parliament.
The newly appointed judges for Court of Appeal include; Justices Christopher Madrama, Stephen Musota, Percy Tuhaise and Ezekiel Muhanguzi. The other judges who sit in the High Court are; Jane Adobo, Cornelia Sabiiti, Paul Gadenya, Richard Wabwire, Joyce Kavuma, Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya, Alex Ajiji, Taddeo Asiimwe, Emmanuel Baguma and Musa Ssekaana.
Cornelia Sabiiti was the Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) before she was retired last year.
Director Communications and Public Affairs (CPA), Parliament, Chris Obore confirmed saying, “Yes, it is true and the clerk to Parliament has invited nominees for vetting by the Appointments Committee chaired by the Speaker.”
