The youth wing of the Democratic Party-DP has accused President Yoweri Museveni of building his country home on the land gazetted as a forest reserve.
The youths claim that President Museveni ‘s country home is on the land that was formerly a forest reserve.
“We challenge President Museveni to show details of the land transaction with National Forestry Authority-NFA by producing receipts. Short of that he is a mere squatter” said Christopher Okidi the DP national youth leader.
Okidi said that UYD has compiled a list of land that has allegedly been grabbed by regime cronies.
He claims the land include that which is opposite Makerere University Main Gate, CMI land, Constitutional Square, CPS, MUBS, Nakivubo War Memorial and UBC land.
But in his response, Senior Press Secretary to the President Don Wanyama said the burden of proof rests on the youth to produce evidence indicating that President Museveni grabbed the land.
The accusation comes at a time when Government is proposing to amend the land Act to enable compulsory acquisition of land for development.
